Liber Psalmorum Project
(part of The Pilgrimage)

It seems fitting that the Book of Psalms would occupy a central place in a project such as this.
The Book was originally a compilation of sacred songs, and remains in large part the hymnbook of the Church to this day.
Being comprised of 150 individual works ranging in length, style, content, and tone, the Book of Psalms is both an infinite sandbox for a composer to explore, and microcosm for the totality of the human experience.

When complete, the Liber Psalmorum will stand apart from the rest of Peregrinatio in that each Psalm will be uniquely set. Envision the music of the completed Bible on some mystical bookshelf; Liber Psalmorum will be like an exploding rainbow in a vivid yet confined space, like the precious sliver of visible light on the larger electromagnetic spectrum.

Some may utilize the leitmotif system employed through the rest of the project, some may not.
Some may reference the chant melodies these Psalms inspired, and some may consciously avoid this.
Each will be composed in a distinctive style and genre, and each will be for a dedicated ensemble.

And that's where the collaborative aspect comes in - if you are a performer, organization, or ensemble, I'd like to invite you to be a part of the creation of Liber Psalmorum. Together, we can truly create a universal Book of Psalms which reflects the music our world has developed from the origins of music through today; we can create a document which has something for everyone, and which is accessible to experience and recreate by every group from the most virtuosic orchestra to the most humble elementary school, from countless performers to a single voice.

Join the project - there are 3 ways to become a supporter:
• Commission a new Psalm setting
• Interface with me about developing a new Psalm setting
• Express interest in an already-completed Psalm, and consider it for performance

Everyone who takes part will be acknowledged here and in public promotional materials for the Psalm Project. Your participation will help make this project a far reaching as possible, create new and unique settings of the Psalms, and help audiences everywhere hear them brought to life.
