Rhapsodie (V.28)
A chamber work lying somewhere between concerto grosso and horn sonata,
Rhapsodie is a
colorful exploration of textures, timbres and harmonies. Scored for
horn, cello, vibraphone,and piano.
Rhapsodie
creates something in between a shifting soundscape and a string of
novelty vignettes creating constrasting mood and employing varying
orchestration. It was envisioned as a horn showcase, but became more of
a concerto grosso,
with each instrument playing an equal part.
