Duetto
(from Scénes, V.87 #11)
for solo trumpet
Another in a continuing series of solo concert etudes for every
instrument, Duetto explores
the inherent harmonic basis of the trumpet which not only allows it to
function in traditional twelve tone equal temperament, but also to
produce many just intuned 'microtones.'
In the work the performer plays with traditional fingerings, alternate
fingerings and completely new fingerings, creating a harmonic fabric
which illustrates the relationships betwen subtle shades of tonal
color. The score includes an explanatory preface and fingering chart.
