Elegy for
Susan was written while I was in the midst of many other
projects and studying in Boston, when I received word my Aunt, a
longtime musical force for me since
childhood, had died. The piece then, with its ethereal, almost static
string textures and recitative trumpet
lines, reflect the strange stoppage of time, or timelessness, which I
felt when, amid a thousand other things to do, Life whispered
to me a song from the infinite.
